![]() You can’t beat experience and Patrick Haslam is now in his 36th year as a licensed trainer! He trained successfully in Lambourn and Newmarket and this continued with his move to Middleham in 1991. During that time he has trained over 900 winners including the Prix de l’Opera (Group I) at Longchamp, the Richmond Stakes (Group II) at Goodwood, the May Hill Stakes (Group II) at Doncaster, the Royal Hunt Cup (listed) at Royal Ascot, the Victoria Cup (listed) at Ascot, the Bunbury Cup (listed) at Newmarket twice, as well as several winners in France and many placed horses in Group and listed races. Patrick trains from Manor House Stables, a fantastic setting, next to the Castle. 200 yards away, he also rents boxes in an American-style barn from Rodney Tennant. He currently has 55 horses in training for the season, including 9 two-year olds. In 2006 he had 31 winners and prize money of £257,700. He had another very successful National Hunt season, with 24 winners. On the flat, Maroussies Wings won a Group III in Deauville and was placed in Group II races both at York and Royal Ascot. This is a mixed yard with racing under all codes all year round. Anne Haslam, Patrick’s wife, plays an active role in the yard and at the races. |
